BACKXWASH ‘I Lie Here Buried With My Rings And My Dresses’

Malevolent horrorcore from the Zambian-Canadian rapper

Opening track Purpose Of Pain signposts the testing journey to come: carried by a malevolent horrorcore the Zambian-Canadian rapper gives full voice to the ugly and the sinful. The realism of this pitch black blast of visceral emotion is disturbing, and yet, cathartic. It’s a testament to Backxwash this trek to the outer reaches is even attempted. We’ve read the word chaotic attributed to it on a couple of occasions, but we find a laser point focus to the music upping the ante. Ada Rook, Clipping, and a host of others, match the energy with passionate contributions, but the hammerblow goes to Burn To Ashes with samples from God Speed You Black Emperor and guitar from Michael Go.
