A hip hop heat haze over Madrid

CKGK of Madrid credit Dipset (The Diplomats of New York) as a major influence for their inception. The hugely pivotal Big Apple crew’s street focused raps painted a picture of their hometown, memorably carried by a sample heavy pounding production.

Intentionally, or not, Calogero*TP (raps) and Glue Kids (beats), capture some of Dipset’s spirit and era, albeit with a baked in sultriness of their own climate. You can feel the heat haze of their city encapsulated in the echoing drones and bubbling melodies, carrying the strident flows. And, whilst the duo don’t work in such bold colours as some, there’s a seething streak of anger to raise the temperature a degree further.
