Rediscover these diamond coated beats on wax

A dream scenario for techno fans has long been to unearth a copy of Dave Clarke’s Archive One or a 12’’ from The Red Series, whilst out crate digging. But, alas, you’re more likely to hear Taylor Swift covering Tomb Mold. Therefore, what we have here, is a treasure trove for those on an endless quest to discover these diamond coated beats on wax.

Some context….Detroit trailblazers such as Jeff Mills and Robert Hood had been morphing through numerous groupings, and by the early 90s began to drop some of their most streamlined brain food. Whilst in New York, Joey Beltram unleashed the monumental Energy Flash and Mentasm. In the meantime, over the pond, the UK had experienced the ‘second summer of love’ and moved into a phase where some groups were producing their most recognisable and progressive work: UnderworldDubnobasswithmyheadman’ 1994, OrbitalSnivilisation’ 1994 and LeftfieldLeftism’ 1995.

It was into this arena Clarke unleashed a series of the toughest, and most revered techno, from outside of motor city. Having honed his craft through the rave years, Archive One and the Red Series were, and still are, feted for their production, and ability to illicit untold euphoria amongst beat freaks the world over.

The tectonic played of techno had shifted and these recordings set a new benchmark for decades to come.
