DELAY GROUNDS ‘Upcycling’

Bristolian producer's forward thinking beats

Tropopause Records are a new London based imprint wanting to provide a platform for ‘’forward thinking dance music that needs to be heard’’. And, with Delay Grounds – aka Patrick Tipler – they’ve set the bar rather high. The Bristol producer has dabbled and perfected many aspects of electronica, but this project was a little different: teaming up with visual artist Liz Naden, the pair found objects of interest from skips and charity shops. Next up, they used each piece to contribute to the collage of sounds on the tracks. Retreating to their own studios, Tipler finished the EP, whilst Naden created sculptures with the pieces – see the EP cover artwork. Exploring themes of hyperrealism and repurposing waste, each track walks a path between techno and IDM nailing an engrossing sound design to groove to. As Ian Dury once pointed out, ‘’there ain’t ‘alf been some clever bastards’’.
