Skramz & prog jams

We’re torn by this bombshell from the big Apple. It’s indefinable, but that’s never stopped us before! We’re picturing the last punk rock band on earth setting up in a ballroom on a seaside pier. With a Wurlitzer organ at their disposal, they rampage through the last music session to ever be committed to tape. As their name suggests sermons are delivered whilst they put themselves through some impressive punk ‘n’ roll paces.

For those who aren’t in the know, Gospel like to push the envelope, and eccentricity is never far away. The group embraced elements of art-rock on their 2005 debut to augment their hardcore sound and continue to do so. Skramz and prog jams are in full effect sitting in a mystery location somewhere between The Stooges, The Jesus Lizard, and King Crimson – we feel sorry for the drummer who puts in a stellar performance to keep time. But as the riffage piles up on several six minute numbers, they retain a raw wallop that is soundly more CBGBs than Canterbury scene.
