Recently we’ve felt a need for full audio immersion, therefore we’ve had a morning of quiet concentration, and resultant wonder, listening to Maya Shenfeld’s In Free Fall. The Berlin based producer inhabits a multiverse of musical modes which coalesce into a profoundly meditative experience. Snap comparisons may lead to labelmate Colleen, or members of the Erased Tapes roster, but we’re finding ourselves looking back to Suzanne Ciani’s pioneering work. Add a depth of knowledge from sound installation projects, a background of classical training, and we’re set for a trip to a cathedral at the end of time.
