NAPALM DEATH ‘Time Waits For No Slave’

Spewing forth some of their finest playing

Time Waits For No Slave was released in 2009, and by then Napalm Death had been applying a blowtorch to their listeners ears for twenty-eight years. After virtually single handedly inventing grindcore, going through multiple line-up changes, and – turn away grind devotees, even flirting with a melody or two – the group were in surprisingly fine fettle. Leaving the grid like formula 1 champion, the guys are in a murderous mood. In true anarcho-punk fashion, chief emitter of guttural bellows, Barney Greenaway, tears a strip off the state of the world and the band spew forth some of their finest playing. Don’t ever consider this band a nostalgia act: stick your head in a speaker and get a dose of last year’s Throes Of Joy In The Jaws Of Defeatism or check their placement on next year’s Primavera fest. These iconic and unrelenting outsiders done good.
