NIK COLK VOID ‘Bucked Up Space’

Void's solo debut is leaner & innovative

In 2017 we witnessed Gabe Gurnsey and Nik Colk Void as a streamlined Factory Floor, dishing up their industrial/techno hybrid to a bouncing festival crowd. Next, in 2018, we caught Gurnsey at an album launch for his debut solo release, as he explored electronic based songwriting. Now, we are gripped by Nik Colk Void and Bucked Up Space, her solo debut album. Housed in a striking sleeve, with cover artwork by Brazilian artist Maria De Lima, it’s a beautiful and tantalizing sight.

Interruption Is Good was first to air from the project, making its way to the radio and into our hearts. A beat driven affair, as one would expect, taking cues from across all of her collaborative projects – Factory Floor, Cosey Fanni Tutti, NVPR – but this sounds leaner, and the product of years of innovation. The album blossoms into an avant garde fizzing missive bringing fresh twists to a winning formula. If solo looks this good on you, then strut your stuff loud and proud.
