QLOWSKI ‘Quale Futuro?’

Exhilarating post-punk flavours

Qlowski pose one simple question and answer it with a scattershot of punk stylings. When the London duo recorded What future? back in January 2020 we were all blissfully unaware of our impending hardships, but now those two words are loaded with more pain than could have been envisaged. Not that this is a ‘pandemic’ album but anxieties bubble to the surface nevertheless. An uncertain future fraught with issues of our worth and identity are analysed as we swim against the tide of a doomed capitalist system. Pinned down and locked in we’re corralled into cul-da-sacs of discordant noise. But the sound continually snaps back to a melodic alliance of synth, guitar, and the twin vocals of Michele Tellarini and Cecilia Corapi. Littered with post punk flavours it can feel familiar, and yet, untutored. It’s an exhilarating trip, as if on the cusp of a nascent musical movement alive with possibilities.
