Delving into an archive of ethnomusicologist’s recordings, Raed Yasim, has compressed decades of history into an electronic triumph. A significant figure on the Lebanese arts underground, Yassin is an experimental music devotee. This isn’t to say Archephony is an inaccessible piece: handling turntables, synthesizers, electronics, zither and double bass himself, Yassin fashions these aged snippets into an avant-garde, psychedelic, and arresting tapestry.
