SHORTIE NO MASS ‘Here Goes Nothing’

Old skool beats fused with high energy lyrical chops

This may be a solo debut from Shortie No Mass, but you’ve heard her before: born in Boston, and later relocating to Philly, Shortie featured in De La Soul’s Buhloone Mindstate and The Roots’ first album, Organix. After working in the studio, and on stage with many other notable artists, it is always refreshing when an artist emerges on a fresh path. With the assistance of her son, Jay Law, taking some of the production duties, Sortie has reframed old skool beats and fused them with her high energy lyrical chops. Shortie may muse about an identity crisis, and being her own worst critic, but this sample heavy, soul stirring set, has a strut in its step all of its own.
