Luminous dance tracks with a taste of Peru

Today Sofia Kourtesis is based in Berlin, but the inspiration for these luminous dance tracks can be partly found in her native Peru. Over extended stays, field recordings were made in and around Lima. These seep into Kourtesis’ music creating a collage of city life, and heartfelt reminisces, set against hypnotic Jam & Spoon style beats. A truly international project that possesses the feeling of a warm embrace.

Housed in a striking sleeve, the imagery was taken from a visit to one of the city’s biggest favelas. The enigmatic central portrait is of Sarita Colonia, the patron of the poor. Kourtesis recalls, “she’s an icon within Peru and a voice of the underrepresented”.
