SPECTACULAR DIAGNOSTICS ‘Raw Lessons’

Hip hop is an art form well served by Spectacular Diagnostics

The Chicago producer comes roaring back with a fresh demonstration of his love for eclecticism, abstraction, and a deft ability to knit his diverse tastes into a magnet for lovers of stinging beats and verses.

Displaying an envious degree of respect from others, the album is smothered with guests dropping some stellar bars: we’re talking Curly Castro , PremRock and Fatboi Sharif from the U.S. & Sonnyjim, King Kashmere and CLBRLKS from the UK, amongst others.

In between we’re hit with instrumental interludes steering the vibe off piste with breakneck scratching, bossa nova weirdness, and free blowing sax. Splice in a love of movie soundtracks, and you’ll start to wonder how Raw Lessons is shoehorned into thirty nine minutes. Declaring he was aiming to capture, ‘the same level of intense detail you had on some of the early Blackalicious projects’, you can feel he’s in the zone as the loops and flows pile up.
