SUBJECTS ‘Goblin/Sky High’

Gut punching beats & spooked melodies

We were grinning ear to ear when we attended Upfest, Bristol’s international street art knees-up, as the bass bins were stacked high in Greville Smyth Park. Not an uncommon sight in our hometown, however, there’s no compromise when Bristol does beats. On our visit it was slamming old school drum ‘n’ bass, breaks, and jungle. And, the multi-generational crowd were lapping up the chest quaking vibes under the sun. Returning home there was one label we immediately turned to for more good times: Deep Jungle Records.

The UK imprint relaunched in 2017 and has rapidly become a go to for vinyl fanatics of junglism, snapping up rare treats unearthed from archives, and new gems in a classic ‘93 – ‘96 style. We’re currently riding the waves of SubjectsGoblin/Sky High with its gut punching beats and bass underpinned by some wonderfully spooked melodies. Hats off to Lee Bogush (DJ & producer, Harmony) for the label’s ongoing success.
